P4 is recovering from Dave Bamford’s flying visit to Chile.

P4 is recovering from Dave Bamford’s flying visit to Chile. Dave is a director of Wellington based Tourism Resource Consultants – a prestigious consulting firm with over 20 years experience in tourism in NZ and developing nations.

In May of this year the P4-TRC alliance was created due to the importance of stimulating investment in Chilean tourism, and the need to provide the Chilean tourism sector with services that combine experience and local know-how. Read the P4-TRC alliance text here.
The last time Dave was in Chile was shortly before the 1973 military coup, when he took part in a mountaineering expedition that took him through the northern ice fields of the Chilean Patagonia, before heading up to Bolivia and Peru.

It would seem the 34 years since his last trip hasn’t dimmed any of his enthusiasm for tourism and natural beauty of South America.
This visit however was work related, including an agenda of meetings organized by P4 that included the Chilean Economic Development Agency (CORFO), the National Tourism Service (Sernatur), the Tourism Promotion Board, members of the Ministry of Economy, and the Chilean Environmental Commission (Conama).
The highlight of the visit of course was Dave’s participation as invited international speaker for the CORFO Workshop Lakes & Volcanoes a 3 day tourism seminar attended by 300 tourism companies held in Puerto Varas in the south of Chile.
P4 thanks the NZ Embassy in Chile, and Corporation of Puerto Varas for the important roles played in making Dave’s visit possible. P4 also like to thank Dave for his effort and enthusiasm, and hope that his next visit here takes less than 34 years to happen.
